How to Create a Bedroom as Luxurious as any Hotel

Creating the perfect bedroom doesn’t need to be complicated. Often, a few simple changes are enough to make your bedroom feel as luxurious as a hotel. If you think about a hotel room, simplicity is key. Too much clutter is distracting and overwhelming, but just a few purposeful changes to your bedroom can be just what the doctor ordered.

The most obvious place to start is a nice, big comfy bed with luxurious sheets that you can’t wait to dive into every night. But where do you go from there?

A bedroom colour scheme should be cool, calming and relaxing. Comforting neutrals or simple whites are ideal for creating your very own slice of hotel heaven. Dusty greys or blues with black and white trimmings and accessories also work really well for adding a touch of elegance to your sleeping space, as do soft hints of purple. Choose a colour that makes you feel most at ease,  and surround your sleeping space with soft, soothing hues that are sure to sweep you away to a deep and peaceful slumber every night.

The quickest and easiest way to create the perfect feel for your bedroom is to carefully select the curtains and bedding. Blackout curtains are ideal for shutting the world out as you retreat to your very own sanctuary. Then, there’s something irresistibly calming about a perfectly made bed complete with crisp, white sheets and a mountain of pillows ready to ease you into a blissful night’s sleep. Add an extra touch of luxury by really layering up the pillows just like they do in your favourite hotel. It’s not quite the same when room service don’t come and plump them back up for you, but the finished effect is just the same!

bedroom decorating ideas: keeping your bedroom unclutteredOnce the colour scheme and the textiles are in place, you can play around with the room’s lighting. A bright, airy room that looks comfortably inviting during the day can be controlled come night-time with curtains, blinds and sidelights for the perfect ambiance. Soft lighting that creates a warm glow rather than an overbearing, glaring main light is best. It might sound obvious but the lighting you use in your bedroom could be the one thing standing between you and a good night’s sleep. It’s easily overlooked but the final moments you spend before closing your eyes for the night can make a big difference.

Life is so hectic and demanding, everybody needs a little slice of heaven to retreat to at the end of a long, hard day. Give yourself the bedroom dreams are made of, you deserve it!
